Dark Tower Series from Stephen King
It's been forever since I've written. Just got busy. I'm now reading the 7th out of 8 books in Stephen King's Dark Tower series since I found out he has an 8th coming out shortly. I also hear there is a movie on the way so I'm catching up. It's a tough read for me as it is all fantasy and the language is hard to follow. However I love the characters that are the mainstay throughout the whole series. Roland is the main gunslinger along with Eddy, Jake and Susannah all from different times in New York. It's a great series and I cannot wait to see what the movie will be like. As a Stephen King fan, and yes I recently got his new book signed which was an awesome adventure, another great story from the master.

Luxe Series
Just finished the final (fourth) book of the Luxe Series by Anna Godbersen. Great stories set back in the early 1900's in high society New York City. Focuses on the Holland sisters and their romances and friends. All from old money. Was interesting to see how everything was very matrialistic. Guess not too much has changed if you have lots of money. Loved how it showed all of the old fashioned rules and regulations of the old high society.

New Book - Ghostwalk
Don't know if anyone is reading, don't think so, so I haven't been diligent. Will try to be better now that my kids' school is almost over.
Am reading "Ghostwalk" by Rebecca Stott. It's her first novel and is about a woman doing research and writing a book about Isaac Newton being an alchemist. It's pretty involved and is written in a very unique style. Makes it hard to follow at times but its different. I like that for a change.
I've also been reading "The Reach of a Chef" by Michael Ruhlman. Read his other book and it was great. This one is more about todays chefs being celebrities. It's very interesting if your a foody.
All for now, have to run. Hope to keep updating and maybe I'll get a follower or two.

Let's change it up.
I've decided too change my blog to a blog about books I'm reading. I would love to belong to a book club but there simply is not one in the small town I live in. I'm hoping to maybe start my own book club blog here. The book I am reading now is titled "A Prisoner of Birth" by Jeffrey Archer. Great book so far. It's about a man that get incorrectly accused of murdering his best friend. The best friend that is murdered also happens to be his fiances brother. It's a story of how he ends up seeking revenge on the actual people that committed the murder. Interesting read and good story so far. I'll keep you updated.

Being frustrated with Teenagers
I have not posted in awhile as I was sick with a cold and am now facing continued frustration with my teenage boys. I don't understand what happens when they turn 15 and 16. It's like they turn into aliens.
I had a horrible time with my first at that age. He hated everyone and everything. I honestly didn't think that he would actually graduate high school. I couldn't wait to get over that because my second son is so easy going. Now here I am, he is now 15 and I'm doing it all over again. My kids are great but at this age they think they know everything and know it puberty but its quite a trying time.
So the only way to go through it, I'm finding, is to guide them, lead them, be a great role model and then simply hope for the best.
Good luck to all moms with teenagers!!!!!

Co-workers
I'm not sure if anyone is reading these blogs, but it makes me feel better to post them so here goes one for today. How does one deal with a co-worker that feel and are treated better than everyone else in the office?
I've found that being passive-aggressive works best for me. It's just irritating that the owners of the company let her do whatever she wants because she has been here for so long. I'm not saying she doesn't get her work done, she is a hard worker. I just don't think its right to treat one employee one way and a second employee another. The rules should apply to everyone.
This co-worker also feels that when the boss is out, she is the new boss. I don't ever remember that being said. So she gives me all her work she doesn't want to handle to make sure I'm busy and while I get it done, I do it in my own time frame. What doesn't get done today, will get done tomorrow.

Math Programs in school
I just have a pet peeve that I would like to vent about. As the mother of two teenagers, I must say that I think the math classes that middle and high school kids take is totally irrelevant. I thought so when I was a student and I still feel the same way. We have so many adults who can't even budget there own money because all they learned in school was algebra and geometry. What good are these types of math in real, everyday life?
I truly believe that kids should be taught business math, investment math and maybe even accounting math which could be useful if someone goes into business of their own. I think algebra and geometry should be saved for college and only for studenst going into specialized fields where this type of math will be used. Other wise I feel the same for college math classes.
As an older, returning student, I had to get my 19 year old son to help me with algebra just to pass so I could get my psychology degree. Now what algebra has to do with psychology I'll never understand. I also, being 45 years old have never used algebra even thought my high school algebra teacher, when asked, told me I would find uses for it when I had to go grocery shopping. Not true. I have never used algebra to buy groceries.
So now I might acually get involved in the school system and find out if there is any way to get math cirriculum changed in the way schools view math.
